Sony Ericsson has announced the launch of their W700i cell phone with a built in MP3 player and a camera.
The Titanium Gold W700i is the 8th walkman phone from Sony Ericsson, a product to combine a Mobile Phone , a high quality digital music player, FM radio with RDS, and a 2.0-megapixel camera. The W700i comes with 256 MB memory that is enough to hold about 4 hours of music. But users can expand memory up to 2 GB using Memory Stick Pro Duo cards available in the market.
Supplied with high-quality headset that plugs into a standard connector, consumers can also connect their favorite headset to the W700i. There is also a full range of available plug-in music accessories, from small portable speakers to car systems.
Jan Wareby, corporate executive Vice President, Head of Sale and Marketing, Sony Ericsson said that the W700i builds on the legacy of the first Walkman phone, the W800i. This phone will appeal to anyone who wants a quality music player in their phone for occasional listening. Like the W800i, the W700i will have all the usual features including 1.8-inch 262 K color, 176 x 220 pixels TFT display, Bluetooth 2.0, Tri-band connectivity and dedicated music buttons. One useful feature is the ability to use the music player with the phone turned off, which is great for use in flights.
The Sony W700i's music quality is enhanced by using the integrated graphic equalizer (software) and Mega Bass. The bundled software, Disc2Phone, is sufficient to get going, ripping CDs and transferring them to the phone.
The W700i will be released globally in second quarter of 2006 and will also be available in a Smooth White colour variant in some markets. The local price of this model is not known yet.
